A Delhi court on Monday granted a three-month interim bail to Unitech promoters Ajay
Chandra and Sanjay Chandra arrested in a fraud case relating to a Gurugram-based real estate project.
Additional Sessions Judge Raj Kapoor granted the relief on a personal bond of Rs70 lakh each and a surety of like amount. The court has also asked them to appear before the Supreme Court as it is hearing various project-related matters involving Unitech and has already summoned the accused.
The court has imposed some conditions on both accused including asking them not to leave the country without the court’s permission and not to hamper the ongoing investigation. Earlier on April 6, the court had denied bail to the Chandras after the Delhi Police submitted that the accused may tamper with evidence and influence the probe.
The two accused were sent to police custody on April 1 after the prosecution made their case for custodial interrogation to discover the alleged money trail, transaction beneficiaries and recover other project-related documents among other evidence.
